John Schlapobersky, BA MSc. John is a psychoanalytic and couple psychotherapist and a group analyst accredited by the UKCP. He established the Bloomsbury Psychotherapy Practice in 2009 after many years in private practice at the both the Group Analytic Practice and Southwood Practice. He is a Training Analyst at the Institute of Group Analysis and supervises on their Masters programme based at Birkbeck College University of London where he is an Honorary Research Fellow. He has also served on the teaching staff at the London Centre for Psychotherapy, Tavistock Centre for Couple Relationships (TCCR) and elsewhere; and is a Founding Member of the British Society for Couple Psychotherapists and Counsellors.
John was formerly Consultant Psychotherapist to the Traumatic Stress Clinic at University College Hospital London and The Medical Foundation for Victims of Torture. He was Programme Chair for the Group Analytic Society's Symposium in 2011: Cultures, Conflict and Creativity. He is a regular contributor at conferences and training events in Europe, Israel and the USA. John’s commitment to creative innovation in psychotherapy practice includes the development of group therapy for couples based on the work of Robin Skynner whose clinical papers he edited and published in two books.
The Forum for Couples In Trouble, now based at his Practice, offers a range of services for couples and outreach links to other service agencies and practitioners in the field.
